Real Love for Little Rock.A Conversation Worth Continuing.
Thank you for spending time in Little Rock!
I’m Sinovia Mayfield, a digital transformation leader, civic creative, and the human behind Rocktown Realness.
It was a pleasure participating in Fueling the Narrative: Changing the Story to Change the Future. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share some of our work, offer a local perspective, and learn from people thinking deeply about narrative, power, and community investment.
I hope our conversation continues well beyond your visit.

Now You Have a Little Rock Story, Too.
One of the things I hope you take away from your time in Arkansas is a fuller, more complete understanding of the people and places you’ve encountered.
Our communities are often introduced through statistics, headlines, political narratives, and the challenges we’re working to overcome. Those realities matter, but they are not the whole story.
Now you’ve had the opportunity to experience a little more of that story firsthand. You’ve met people doing meaningful work, heard perspectives that might not otherwise reach you, and seen some of the relationships and possibilities that exist here.
You now have the opportunity to help tell a more complete story about Little Rock and Arkansas.
Not by speaking for us, but by carrying what you’ve learned into the conversations, institutions, and decisions you influence.
Share the work that impressed you. Remember the people you met. Challenge assumptions when you encounter them. Make introductions. Bring Arkansas into conversations where our communities might otherwise be overlooked.
And when you talk about Little Rock, I hope you’ll remember that we’re more than our challenges, and more than the resilience we’re so often celebrated for demonstrating.
We’re a community worth knowing, supporting, enjoying, and investing in.
Thank you for coming to see a little more of who we are. I hope this is the beginning of a longer relationship.

A Little About Me
Professionally, I lead digital transformation initiatives, teams, and complex projects. My background spans technology, education, nonprofit operations, and organizational leadership.
For nearly a decade, I’ve also been building Rocktown Realness (opens in a new tab), a hyperlocal civic platform rooted in real love for Little Rock.
My work across both spaces has a common thread: connecting people, pixels, and purpose to turn good ideas into practical action.
I’m especially interested in designing and leading initiatives that make resources, information, and opportunities more accessible.

What We’re Building Through Rocktown Realness
Rocktown Realness turns community connection into practical action through storytelling, direct support, civic engagement, and shared experiences.
Our work is grounded in the belief that Little Rock is rich in people, talent, resources, relationships, and possibilities. We’re interested in building the capacity to connect those things in ways that make life better for our neighbors.
Feed Our Folks
Community food support rooted in dignity and choice. Through groceries, prepared food, and redistribution partnerships, we connect available resources with neighbors who can use them.
Community Storytelling
Honest, community-centered storytelling that celebrates Little Rock while making room for the experiences, challenges, and contributions that deserve greater attention.
Civic Access
Making public information and decision-making processes easier to understand so neighbors can participate more meaningfully in the decisions affecting their lives.
Joy & Belonging
Accessible community experiences that create opportunities for neighbors to gather, celebrate, build relationships, and enjoy the place they call home.
Feed Our Folks: impact snapshot
- grocery orders analyzed to better understand the everyday essentials neighbors request
- 154
- pounds of additional food redistributed through Potluck Food Rescue (approximate)
- ~2,500
We’re proud of what’s possible through practical coordination and community generosity. And we’re equally interested in what becomes possible when that work is sustainably resourced.
Explore Rocktown Realness(opens in a new tab)A Few Ideas I Hope Stay With You
Our panel explored how narrative change moves beyond communications and becomes visible in the choices we make, the resources we share, and the opportunities we create.
These are a few ideas that continue to guide my work.
Care Is a Practice, Not a Moment.
A compelling story can inspire people. Sustained care requires coordination, funding, relationships, and follow-through.
Communities Have Value Before Someone Decides to Invest in Them.
Our neighbors, local businesses, institutions, history, and relationships are already contributing to the places we call home. Community investment should recognize and strengthen that value.
Civic Participation Requires Civic Literacy.
People deserve to understand how decisions are made, who makes them, and how to meaningfully participate.
Joy Is Civic Strategy.
People deserve more than opportunities to survive in their communities. They deserve opportunities to enjoy them, build relationships, and feel like they belong.
Resourcefulness Is Not a Substitute for Resourcing.
We can celebrate the creativity and resilience of communities without expecting them to sustain important work on limited resources indefinitely.
What Would Help Us Grow
We’re interested in relationships and investments that help strengthen the work we’re already doing.
Three areas are especially important.
Flexible Community Investment
Funding that supports direct community assistance, accessible experiences, and the ability to respond to needs without building a new program around every opportunity.
Organizational Capacity
People, systems, and operational support that help us coordinate programs, volunteers, partnerships, storytelling, and impact measurement.
Strategic Relationships
Connections with people and institutions interested in community-led innovation, civic infrastructure, narrative change, and sustainable local investment.
We’re not looking to make everything bigger for the sake of growth. We’re interested in making meaningful work more sustainable, accessible, and effective.
Let’s Explore What’s PossibleLet’s Keep the Conversation Going
The conversation doesn’t have to end when the Arkansas Learning Journey does.
